Then You Go Downtown
I've been an unapologetic fan of "Downton Abbey," but after the last two seasons, I've come to the conclusion that certain shows are like certain men I dated when I was young; I'll put up with all sorts of stupidity as long as I'm looking at something pretty.
Cannot WAIT for Season 4.
Cannot WAIT for Season 4.

*sigh* Me too. I'm holding out for massive but recoverable head trauma, and for Dan Stevens to overcome his strange aversion to DA and return for Season 4.
Fingers crossed for a Mary + Branson hook up.
I keep meaning to watch that. I think I'll look for it on Netflix now. :)
OK, so I bought my wife the first two seasons of the show on DVD since she became hooked last year and needed to do some catching up. I was intrigued to see this post from a Facebook friend:
"Downton Abbey" is really just "Dallas" with quaint costumes and charming accents.
Is that fair or just catty?
While many of the scripts are dripping with soap-suds, I think having that many good actors in the same series is more typical of the Brits than it is of us. Being shown on a station with no commercials doesn't hurt. But those of us ancient enough to remember the original Upstairs Downstairs and the movie Gosford Park (which Downton creator Julian Fellowes also wrote)know that it's all been done before.
Brilliant deductive reasoning!
