Book Blog Tour: Felicia

Felicia asks:

Why did you rename Daughter? I'm so used to reading about Consort and Daughter, that throughout the book I kept having to remind myself who "Alice" was. This probably speaks to my utter stupidity, since it was only repeated a few thousand times within your book, and every time it made my brain fart a little.

That was the editor. I fought to keep Consort as Consort but I understood her logic that Daughter, to people who haven't been reading the blog, might sound a little cold.

I had a feeling that was an editor-thing. I keep wondering, "Whp is this Alice, and what has she done with Daughter???"

As wonderful as your editor seems to be, I'd have disagreed with her on this one. Seems odd to have one member of your family with a generic name (Consort) and the other with a more name-ish name (Alice). "Daughter" doesn't seem at all cold in context. And "Alice" is really disorienting to your regular blog readers, who will be the initial buying and word-of-mouth-generating customers for the book.

But since it's way too late to make a difference, I'll just shut up now. :-)
