One of my cats is like that, too. If the food bowl is empty, it means he's staaaaarving. I would never declaw him, but sometimes I threaten to have his vocal chords removed.
Too funny! Do you know my cat? The thing is, he has always "grazed" on dry food all day, but now he's getting expensive, canned, diabetic cat food, too. So every time he feels like grazing, he finds me first to cry for canned food. When it doesn't work, he happily munches on the crunchy stuff, but, hey, you might as well go for the good stuff if you can get it!
That is SO my cat! Truly, only 1 hour after he's eaten. And yet, we adore them, don't we?
