Query.
Publisher is looking at a reading in Philly, DC or Baltimore. Are you in the area? Would you actually come to a reading/book signing of mine (Yeah, still sounds weird)? Could you convince a friend to come?
Better yet, what city should I be visiting? Keep in mind, it's 2009 and if I don't get where I should be, it's not personal.
If you ever make it out to Phoenix, make book on me being there with the spouse. And if you go to LA, I can guarantee my friend Doug and about eighty-nine of his friends would be there. Did you know that you are something of a gay icon? It's true!
A second for Dallas!!! Have your folks check out Legacy Books in Plano - a 6 months old, 3 story bookstore that has lots of events. I just saw another blogger/ author there and it was packed out.
Come to the Book Cellar on Lincoln Ave: www.bookcellarinc.com. They're independently owned, and staffed by delightful people. And no, I don't work there. I just stimulate the economy there... a lot.
Chicago or St. Louis. I am 20 minutes from St. Louis, and nobody ever comes here anymore! You could be instrumental in reviving the wonderful tradition of great authors stopping here. It all stopped when a wonderful independent bookstore closed several years ago.
I live in Dallas and would like it if you came here, but if I had written a book and was going to promote it, I would be going to NYC! Then I would go to DC and Baltimore, since you would be in the area.
ps. Flagstaff is 2 hours from Phoenix so if you went to Phx, I'd be there! I saw another AZ vote here too. I'm buying your book anyway though so if plans for this materialize later, that's ok. I'll be there when you are!
New York loves you - snarky is our local dialect ! And we've got your other fan bases covered as well - gay icon followers, animal lovers, moms with lots of brains....
Well, I have read already that LA is the winner because it is local to you. I will just say East Coast from DC to NY and I will be there. Meanwhile I'm off to order my copy. Good Luck and thanks
BOSTON. Ask Jen Lancaster about the crowd she gets in Boston and how faithful Boston book fans are. We even go to see authors at the SAME time as a game at Fenway, which adds an hour to what should be a, ahem, 15 minute commute. Just ask her! :-)
I'll be in the DC area at the very end of July, beginning of August. Maybe you could read then.
But come to Boston, please. PLEASE? Pretty please with cherries on top?
Hi Quinn. I'm in the Philadelphia area (and gay)... I tell all my friends about the QC report. You are a great writer and the gays can spot quality :-) Plus... since I'm in my 40's...and gay... I was obsessed with your perfomance in The Goodbye Girl... and since you hadn't done much since then... I decided to search for you on the internet...and that led me to the QC report. Please come to Philly for a book signing!
Nashville!!! I'm actually in a small city in Western KY, and Nashville is the nearest major city with several large book stores that handle book signings, authors, etc. My city doesn't even have a bookstore, currently...thank goodness for Amazon. Anyway, you have Southern fans, so please come on down!
DETROIT,MI area!! PLEASE??? we need some culture!...and besides with everyone getting laid off in the auto industry here, a free reading??? If it's for free, it's for me! (Oh I would totally buy your book!)
Yes - would definitely come to an event in Philly, and I might be able to get a group together, too. (At least, I would certainly try.) And I agree with Lauren's post above that Chester County Book & Music is a wonderful venue. A great place.
Yes, PLEASE! Come to Philly! I'll buy another book! You could - you could - you could meet my cats! They're GREAT cats! They shed! They drool! They put their paws around your neck for a hug and a kiss!

If you could do a reading in NYC, I could PACK IT!
I'm in Philadelphia, and you could probably get a good group together. Even in the suburbs, people come out for readings all the time.

I would totally come to see you in DC, and would bring friends, too.
I could do DC or Baltimore but not until October!! Would you consider Flagstaff AZ? It's touristy and pretty hopping in the summer.
Dallas!
Atlanta
Raleigh, NC!!!
Another vote for NYC here!

Come to Philly, I'll get a group together!
Come to Arizona- Changing Hands, an INDEPENDENT bookstore- we'd pack the house!
I'm not really near Philly or the DC area, but if you visited northern NJ (Parsippany has a LOVELY Barnes & Noble), I would definitely come!
(And, considering how very, very seldom I go out at night, that's saying a lot.)
In Nashville or Chicago (or area) I could guarantee an audience.
Oh, please come to Philadelphia! I would be there with bells on.
NYC or Philadelphia, please! Would love to come!
Chicago!

One more reason to come to Chicago: Harry Potter exhibit at the Museum of Science & Industry. Bring daughter and consort! Fun for the whole family!
Ooh, DC, please! I know lots of people who would enjoy hearing you read--and some of us would even buy the book!
I'm hoping for a book reading/signing right here in LA! Please keep us readers informed. We want to support you! :)
Best,
Elise
On your way to Manila, stopover in Auckland, New Zealand.
You don't ask you don't get, right?
I'd go to your book signing in the San Francisco Bay Area, but if you can't make it, I still plan to buy your book!
One vote for Portland, OR. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful!
Unfortunately, I doubt you'll be coming to Norwich, England, no matter how much I beg!
AZ-Phoenix Metro area... I second the Changing Hands suggestion...
Chicago or St. Louis. I am 20 minutes from St. Louis, and nobody ever comes here anymore! You could be instrumental in reviving the wonderful tradition of great authors stopping here. It all stopped when a wonderful independent bookstore closed several years ago.
Madison, WI
100 square miles surrounded by reality. It's your kind of place, honest!
I live in Dallas and would like it if you came here, but if I had written a book and was going to promote it, I would be going to NYC! Then I would go to DC and Baltimore, since you would be in the area.
Please come to Boston. We love snarky humor here:)

San Francisco!

Gracious yes, if you come to San Diego I'll be there and I'll also hand out flyers at my workplace ( 800+ employees) announcing your gig! Kathy

OK, I'm late to this party but YES! I'd definitely come to see you.
Like I mentioned in another post...the Chester County Book Company (in West Chester,PA) is an exceedingly cool indy bookstore that has many signings.
Lets see...I met Anne Rice there, and the guys from Deadliest Catch.
Who would be cooler to add to that list than YOU?!!!
Yes - would definitely come to an event in Philly, and I might be able to get a group together, too. (At least, I would certainly try.) And I agree with Lauren's post above that Chester County Book & Music is a wonderful venue. A great place.
